The Dukunde Kawa cooperative, which means, of those who like coffee, was founded in 2003. It has about
2000 members, mostly smallholders, with about
250 to 300 coffee trees each.
It is located in Rwanda's northern province, inhabited by gorillas, near the village of Musasa, as it is also known.
It is famous for its high quality coffee, grown in rich, rolling hills on volcanic soil, at an altitude of between 1800 and 2000 metres.
The Dukunde Kava Co-operative has enabled growers to
process the cherries in a central location and double their
yield.
Musasa coffee has won the Cup of Excellence between the years
2010 e 2018
